Greening Taupo Day 2025
NZFM joined other Taupō businesses and community groups on Thursday 5th June to celebrate Greening Taupō Day 2025.
The event was organised by Greening Taupō and Kids Greening Taupō to celebrate Arbor Day with a community planting event and a range of activities organised by Taupō organisations to celebrate all things green and the promotion of environmental education. Delicious sausages (sourced from locally caught venison) and hot soup (made from Misfit Garden vegetables) were also on offer and well appreciated as a few rain showers passed through during the morning.
During the event, 3,000 native plants were planted by the community, volunteers and tamariki from 30 local schools and ECE centres. The morning was a great success! All attendees worked together and were brought together by a shared commitment to protect, learn about, and celebrate the natural environment.
NZFM was kindly supported by Discovery Forestry for this event, who provided resources for tamariki to enjoy. The tree ring library was also on show during morning and the challenge set to attendees to ‘match the tree ring to the species’.
Thank you to Greening Taupō and Kids Greening Taupō for a well organised and fun morning!
